Sigree wins The Telegraph Food Guide Award for the Best Indian Restaurant in Kolkata

The dream to revive the long lost art of subtle cooking in Indian cuisine gave birth to Sigree.

Original Indian cooking laid more importance on purity and freshness of flavour than the rich, spicy cream and gravy mistaken as our cuisine today.

It was to bring back this essence of Indian cooking that Sigree was opened in Pune in March 2006, followed soon by another outlet in Chennai in November 2006. The next destination of Sigree will be the city of Kolkata.

The Cuisine

The menu is inspired by the slow charcoal fire of the simple iron vessel called 'Sigree', and the timeless taste it renders in food. The food is slowly cooked with patience and love, over the charcoal flame, in a method that is centuries old. Till it brings out the secret flavour of each ingredient. Each dish in the carefully researched and restored menu brings back the mouth-watering simplicity of original Indian cuisine.
